Maple Nut Chocolates

What are you waiting for? They're good for you! Grab one when those cravings hit! The natural fats are a good choice and the amount of unrefined carbohydrate is minimal.

Most Americans are actually deficient in essential fatty acids, and fill up on refined carbohydrates - to the tune of 60-80% of their calories. So a fatty snack can actually help in turning around the carb/fat/protein ratio  that is so unbalanced in our culture. Remember, you can't burn fat if your carbohydrate intake is high enough to cause a surge of insulin. Don't fight the cravings - replace them with wholesome fats and turn around your metabolism!

Maple Nut Chocolates

Ingredients:
1/4 c. 100% almond butter (no additives)
1/4 tsp. maple flavoring
pinch of salt
1-2 Tb. pure maple syrup
1 oz. of a 70% or higher cacao bar
2 tsp. coconut oil

Directions:
Mix the nut butter, flavoring, salt and syrup until well-blended. Drop by teaspoons onto parchment paper. Freeze.  Melt the cacao and coconut oil together in the microwave for 15-20 seconds. Stir until smooth. One at a time, drop the nut balls into the melted chocolate mixture. Turn with a fork to coat. Lift out onto clean parchment. Chill until set. Makes 12-16.
