Pudding Fling: Laughing for Nutrition

The best way to eat is while laughing! It stokes up your digestive fires for optimal assimilation of nutrients. For a quick review of how your digestive fire needs to be hot, read this post at Sophia Health Institute.

Negative emotions dampen the production of digestive juices because they put us in "fight-or-flight." Blood flow diverts to the limbs, muscle tension rises, blood pressure increases, and breathing accelerates. But we can reverse all of that by taking a few deep breaths, expressing gratitude, being around those we love...and laughing!

Laughter stimulates the vagus nerve, called the Buddha nerve by Huffington post because it is the body's mechanisms for "thriving and maintaining good health." Whether laughter affects the vagus nerve via the vocal chords or the diaphragm is not definite. What is clear is that vagal stimulation raises digestive juices, improves movement of food through the digestive tract, promotes healthy kidney function, and helps balance blood sugar levels by modulating liver and pancreatic action.

So enjoy the Pudding Fling video and don't forget to be happy at meal times!
